Why choose reusable covers?
As part of the Green Deal for Sustainable Healthcare, Duomed Belgium is committed to making the healthcare sector more sustainable, specifically within the theme of Materials & Waste. Currently, we package our devices in single-use plastic, which resulted in a plastic consumption of no less than 39,636 m² in 2022—equivalent to more than 6 football fields!
The pressure to adopt more sustainable alternatives is increasing, partly through the European Union's Single-Use Plastics Directive. This directive requires member states to achieve a significant reduction in the use of single-use plastics by 2026. By switching to reusable covers, we can not only reduce waste but also meet these growing requirements.
What are the benefits?
Our reusable covers are not only an environmentally friendly packaging solution but also offer significant efficiency gains. Thanks to their universal design, devices can be packed more quickly and easily than with plastic. Additionally, we collaborate with De Kemphaan, a local custom manufacturing company, which helps us strengthen both our ecological and social impact.
How does it work?
Upon delivery of your devices, our transporters will unpack the devices and immediately take the covers back with them. These covers will then be reused for future deliveries.
